FRICKE THROUGH WITH AUSSIES

LEICESTER captain Max Fricke is through to the FIM Speedway of Nations Final with Australia.

They competed in semi-final 2 at Belle Vue on Wednesday, a meeting which started in very wet conditions but with the Manchester circuit holding up well.

Australia and Denmark were always strong favourites for the meeting and their respective team managers took the opportunity to rotate their riders throughout the evening.

Denmark won the event with 40 points whilst Australia scored 34, their total being reduced by a crash for Jack Holder when the two nations met in Heat 16.

Fricke scored 11 points from four rides, with Holder on 10 and Brady Kurtz totalling 13.

Latvia took the third qualification place in the Final joining Sweden, Poland and Germany from semi-final 1 along with hosts Great Britain.

Meanwhile Luke Becker also competed in semi-final 2 and performed strongly, scoring the entirety of the USA’s 20-point total as both Broc Nicol and Gino Manzares failed to get off the mark.

Sam Hagon is in action on Friday as part of the Great Britain team for the SO2 (World Under-21) event. Hagon lines up alongside Leon Flint and former Lions rider Dan Thompson.
